Lipstick Color - Match Your Skin Color

Big, beautiful lips make every woman happy. With their tempting allure, and rich, sexy colors, the lips in magazines seem to get all the attention. Luckily, even the ordinary woman can liven up her style, and add a splash of color by choosing the proper lipstick color.

When selecting a lipstick color, it’s important to remember the relationship of lipstick to skin tone. The shade you choose should have the same color saturation as your skin. For example, an African American lady can wear deep red lipstick colors, like crimson, because it complements her skin tone. Cherry or fire engine red may not be flattering, with too much contrast. The woman with porcelain white skin would look stunning in a cherry red shade, because the color has a bright, sunny feeling, like her skin tone. However, a deep purplish-red shade would make the same woman look like an old lady. Wrinkles and dark lines are emphasized with deep lipstick shades. As long as you keep these skin tone

Lip gloss

A few years back, I went on a blind date that a friend had set up for me. I was a nervous wreck and it showed. I was supposed to meet him at a nice local restaurant and spotted him as soon as I arrived. I was walked very nervously up the sloped sidewalk when I stumbled. I caught myself, but my adorable tiny purse wasn’t so lucky. It fell to the ground scattering its contents all over the sidewalk. I was mortified. The gentleman that he was, he came down to help me.

Luckily, I didn’t have anything embarrassing in my purse but I did have five tubes of lip gloss. As he handed me all five of them, he smiled. I thanked him and standing up, told him that I have a passion for lip gloss. He didn’t comment, just escorted me into the restaurant. All I wanted to do was go home. Two years later, on our wedding day, after our first kiss as a married couple, he was wearing my shiny lip gloss. I laughed and wiped it off of him with a smile.

He tells everyone that he fell for me the moment he saw all those tubes of lip gloss laying all over the sidewalk. I had not been wearing a dress or skirt that day, but he said that’s how he knew I had a subtle feminine side in me. I never quite understood what that meant but since we’re now married, I guess that passion for lip gloss turned out to be a rather good passion afterall. On any given day, you can look in my purse or my desk drawers and find at least one tube of lip gloss.

I don’t need to wait until I run out, I simply continue to stock up. Some have glitter, some have light shades of various colors and some are simply medicated. I can’t tell you when I first discovered lip gloss or why, I just know that I am never without it. I must apply it at least ten times a day.

To his credit, my husband has never commented on my addiction to purchasing lip gloss. I don’t hesitate to try a new brand or color and he tolerates it all. I guess since that’s what he claims made him fall in love with me, he can’t really discourage it. Besides, after all of the kisses we’ve shared and the amount of lip gloss he’s ended up wearing, his lips are healthier than they were before he met me.
